There are 3 seasons in the SEC football world: Football season, recruiting season and spring football season. The Florida Gators begin their Spring Season this Wednesday in Gainesville for the first time in 4 years without Tim Tebow. That is not the biggest story though, Urban Meyer is now priority number one for the Gator Nation. All Gator fans can breath a little easier knowing that Urban Meyer will be back on the sidelines for spring practice. He’s had some time off since recruiting ended in early February and the indications are his doctors have given him good reports on his health. Among the hot issues for Florida this spring is the QB position and the emergence of John Brantley. He has huge shoes to fill and although the Gator Nation should not be looking for Brantley to be another Tebow they should expect a QB with a lot of great potential and a even though he’s young will little game experience he will be a redshirted Junior with 3 seasons of under his belt. Wide receiver will be another hotly contested roster spot as will filling some big holes on defense where the Gators lost a lot of bodies and leadership to graduation and the NFL draft. One more thing to look out for, as if you needed more, the Gator defense will have a new defensive coordinator in Teryl Austin taking over for Charlie Strong who left to become the head coach of the University of Louisville. Spring ball starts Wednesday with the culmination coming in the Orange and Blue game April 10th.
